Description
The Hannchen-Mehrzweck-Stiftung (hms) allocates approximately €90,000 annually to support queer projects nationwide that address the fields of social issues as well as work & social affairs. The aim is to critically reflect on heteronormative structures and discriminatory practices within the LGBTIQ* movement, make discourses visible, and create subversive spaces. Funded initiatives include those with a clear educational, public, or vocational training orientation, as well as research projects focused on improving the social, economic, or legal living conditions of LGBTIQ*-identified individuals. Individual case assistance is excluded; instead, the foundation seeks a broad distribution of funds to sustainably support diverse perspectives and innovative approaches.
Eligible to apply are non-profit organizations (usually associations) recognized through a tax exemption certificate, which ensure proper project management. Applications are accepted exclusively via the online portal; the latest tax exemption certificate from the tax office serves as proof. Funding amounts range from €500 to €5,000 per project. Funding applications can be submitted once annually, distributed over two deadlines: from December 1, 2025, to February 15, 2026 (60% of the funds) and from July 1 to August 31, 2026 (40% of the funds). Since only one application per organization is permitted per calendar year and funds are limited, early and complete submission is recommended.
