Description
The state foundation "Help for Mother and Child" supports pregnant individuals, large families with at least three minor children, as well as single parents with at least one child in Bavaria who find themselves unexpectedly in an involuntary emergency situation. Assistance is provided in the form of voluntary grants when statutory benefits are insufficient. The goal is the rapid alleviation of acute social and economic burdens to create a stable foundation for the future. The institution supports necessary purchases such as initial baby supplies, secures livelihood, reduces existing debt obligations, or covers rental deposits and subsidies for housing procurement. In special cases, one-time grants of €515 per child are granted for families with triplets and larger households, as well as monthly subsidies for household help.
Requirements for funding include, among others, a minimum six-month residence in Bavaria, German citizenship of a family member, and income and asset limits according to § 53 AO. Additionally, the locally responsible authority or a welfare association must endorse the request for assistance. The urgency of the emergency, the applicant’s personal contribution, and the subsidiarity relative to existing benefits are considered in the individual decision. Funding amounts are not ongoing benefits and are granted for a project duration of up to twelve months. All documents – from the completed application form to income and asset proofs, birth certificates, and letters of endorsement – can be submitted at any time, as applications are accepted continuously.
