Description
The Maria Seltmann Foundation sustainably promotes the common good in Weiden and the surrounding region with its endowment. Grants are primarily allocated to senior citizen work to support meeting opportunities at the Maria Seltmann House, as well as to projects in art and culture that enrich local initiatives such as chamber music series or literature days. In addition, science, research, and education are supported, for example through endowed professorships at the HAW Amberg-Weiden or through investments in lecture hall buildings. Furthermore, individuals in special distress receive financial assistance, for instance via Christmas campaigns organized by the city of Weiden or social associations. The foundation was established in 1993 by Maria Seltmann and has since pursued exclusively charitable and benevolent purposes in accordance with tax regulations.
Eligible for funding are non-profit organizations, educational institutions, private individuals, interest groups, and other associations based or active in Weiden and the surrounding area. Applications may be submitted continuously, provided that the proposed projects relate to senior citizen work, art/culture, science/research/education, or emergency aid. The foundation places great importance on ensuring that the funds raised have an immediate local impact and achieve a sustainable strengthening of the local community. The application process is open indefinitely and offers older adults, cultural practitioners, researchers, students, as well as individuals in special life situations the opportunity to financially realize their projects and thereby further promote social and cultural cohesion in the region.
