Description
Since its establishment in 2012, the Nachwuchs Foundation of the Numismatic Commission of the Federal States has been promoting academic numismatic Nachwuchs (young talent) nationwide in Germany. As a non-legal entity foundation, it supports private applicants with grants for printing costs, travel expenses, and material costs of scientific projects as well as theses. It also funds the renowned Walter Hävernick Prize for outstanding numismatic works. The foundation aims to strengthen the professional qualification of students and young researchers through advanced training at leading numismatic institutions and through research projects. The continuous possibility to submit applications offers interested parties the opportunity for financial support at any time.
Funding is provided especially to students and early-career researchers with a clearly demonstrated numismatic research or thesis project, as well as membership or cooperation with a relevant institution. Submissions are evaluated based on the scientific quality of the work and its contribution to numismatics. Applications must include a detailed project description, a budget plan, and a curriculum vitae. The straightforward and unbureaucratic allocation is carried out by the foundation’s board of trustees in accordance with the statutes. By specifically supporting printing, travel, and material costs, the Nachwuchs Foundation makes an important contribution to securing and advancing numismatic research in Germany.
