Description
The Gießen University Society Foundation annually awards grants in Hesse to support innovative projects at Justus Liebig University Gießen. Funded are scientific initiatives in research and teaching as well as national and international communication and interaction measures that strengthen university knowledge transfer and support social cohesion. Eligible to apply are scientific staff, teaching personnel, and students of JLU, as well as cross-university institutions that advance university development. The focus is on projects with high relevance for research, teaching, and internationalization, which serve to strengthen democratic processes and social participation. An informal application with a precise project description and detailed financing requirements is sufficient to enter the selection process.
Decisions are made twice a year on the cut-off dates of end of February (project start from June) and end of September (project start from February 1 of the following year). Evaluation is based on the criteria of relevance to research and teaching, contribution to university development, as well as communication and internationalization aspects. The board makes the funding decisions; in exceptional cases, an expedited decision is possible. This transparent procedure provides ambitious projects with prompt support and contributes to the university’s profile development in the long term. Interested project leaders can find all details on application and funding modalities on the foundation’s information pages and may submit the informal application with a well-founded project plan directly.
