Description

The Historical Music Foundation supports long-term projects in early music from the Middle Ages to the Bach era. The funding program promotes ensembles and musicians specializing in historical performance practice who, with pioneering spirit, realize demanding concert series, music education initiatives, or unconventional interpretative concepts. Furthermore, publications of historical sources and research works are supported to ensure the scholarly processing and broad availability of early compositions. A central concern is the promotion of young talent: scholarships and project grants provide young artists and scholars with financial resources to deepen their interpretative skills and musicological understanding, thereby keeping the tradition of historical performance practice alive.

Eligible for funding are non-profit organizations, interest groups, associations, as well as individuals with proven specialization in early music. Grants can be applied for at any time, as ongoing funding opportunities exist and there are no fixed deadlines. Applications should include the planned project concept, a financing plan, and a description of the artistic or publishing objectives. Selection is based on the content quality, long-term impact potential, and sustainability of the projects. Through continuous support, sustainable structures are created for historically informed performances, scholarly publications, and the artistic development of the next generation in the field of early music.
