Description
Since 1980, the van Meeteren Foundation has supported non-profit corporations and public institutions in Düsseldorf, the surrounding area, and the Eifel region with approximately one million euros annually. The focus is on projects in the fields of science and research, international understanding including international youth exchange, cultural initiatives, social and charitable endeavors, as well as nature and environmental protection. Only tax-privileged organizations with proven non-profit status and a verified overall financing plan are eligible for funding. The requested funds can be used over a period of twelve months for material costs, personnel expenses, travel and hospitality costs, as well as conference fees and printing costs within the scope of the project. However, subsidies for printing costs of literature outside the funded projects are excluded.
Interested institutions must submit the fully completed application form, the funding guidelines, proof of non-profit status, and a detailed cost and financing plan by March 31 of each year. In May, the board of trustees decides on the project applications based on their relevance to the funding priorities and the completeness of the overall financing. Follow-up applications are possible but must be submitted again within the deadline. The foundation supports both its own initiatives and external projects, always with the aim of providing sustainable impulses for regional research, intercultural exchange, social commitment, and environmental projects, thereby contributing to social cohesion.
