Description

The United Church and Monastery Chamber Erfurt (VKK) annually provides €1.23 million from foundation revenues to promote charitable engagement in the Free State of Thuringia. Funds are allocated to charitable and diaconal projects of Caritas and Diakonie, to the preservation and maintenance of church buildings, as well as to educational and university-related concerns. As a public law foundation, the VKK possesses a historically grown asset base composed of residential, leasehold, and forest properties, as well as other foundation funds. Since reunification, over 2,382 individual projects have been supported with a total of €33.3 million to preserve cultural heritage and strengthen social and educational structures.

Eligible for funding are non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and public entities active in the fields of social affairs, education, vocational training, labor and social services, as well as infrastructure and urban development. Applications may be submitted on an ongoing basis; prior consultation with church partners is recommended. Funding is provided in the form of grants and is equally directed at operators of daycare centers, schools, universities, social institutions, as well as construction projects within protected historic environments. Through continuous awarding, the VKK contributes to strengthening projects oriented towards the common good and to preserving cultural heritage in Thuringia.
