The Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ) in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania offers young people the opportunity to actively participate in environmental and nature conservation for one year. Under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Consumer Protection and with professional support from the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (LAGuS), projects are implemented in the areas of nature conservation, ecological education, and climate protection. The goal is to strengthen personal development and awareness of sustainable action through practical tasks and project work. Funding is provided as an ongoing grant, which can be applied for directly at LAGuS.
Applicants are school graduates up to approximately 27 years old who wish to gain practical experience with a high level of commitment and a strong interest in ecological issues. The duration of the placement is twelve months, during which participants receive professional guidance and educational support. Motivation and willingness to engage in diverse fields of work ranging from nature conservation to educational activities are decisive for the award. A meaningful application letter along with a current curriculum vitae is sufficient for the application. Applications can be submitted to LAGuS at any time; there is no application deadline. Through the combination of practical implementation, professional guidance, and educational support, this voluntary service makes a valuable contribution to the ecological future of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
