Funding of German-French Co-productions within the Framework of the Film Funding Act 2025 (Minitreaty Funding)

The Minitraité funding supports German-French film projects in all production phases – from screenplay development to international distribution. Small and medium-sized production companies can apply for a non-repayable grant under the National Film Funding Act 2025. Eligible expenses include development, production, and distribution costs for feature films realized through close bilateral collaboration. The jury evaluates applications based on artistic quality, economic concept, and the strength of cooperation between German and French partners. Submissions are made electronically via the FFA service portal, where current deadlines are also published.

For the application, a detailed project description including artistic objectives, a comprehensive financing plan, and a legally valid co-production agreement must be submitted. The target group comprises producers and production companies seeking a sophisticated collaboration beyond national borders. The funding aims to strengthen German-French film production and enable cultural exchange on the cinema screen.
