Description
Within the framework of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania promotes sustainable forestry measures with direct grants. Funding is provided, among other things, for broadleaf underplanting in coniferous monocultures at risk of calamities, forest fire prevention measures in areas with high and medium risk, as well as projects to enhance the recreational value of forest areas. The aim is to secure the productive, protective, and recreational functions of forests in the long term while simultaneously improving production, labor, and marketing conditions in forestry. As an ongoing program, applications can be submitted at any time before the start of the respective project.
Eligible for funding are natural and legal persons under private or public law who own agricultural and forestry land in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Excluded are the federal government and states, public-law institutions, as well as legal entities with at least 25% state-owned capital. A prerequisite for funding is compliance with the specified binding periods and the specific requirements of the individual measures; areas transferred free of charge for nature conservation cannot be funded. The administration is carried out by the State Forestry of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on behalf of the Ministry for Climate Protection, Agriculture, Rural Areas, and Environment. In this way, forest owners gain uncomplicated access to financial support and contribute to sustainable, ecological, and economic forest management.
