Description
The state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania supports public providers with grants of up to 85% for the construction, expansion, and renovation of all-day care infrastructures for primary school children (grades 1–4). Funding is provided not only for construction measures such as new buildings, conversions, and expansions but also for accompanying capital expenditures such as equipment, architectural, and structural planning services. Applicant municipalities and independent cities must demonstrate a ten-year commitment to maintaining the facility to ensure its long-term operation. A valid operating permit according to § 45 SGB VIII or comparable legal supervision, as well as an all-day care offer of at least eight hours on five days per week, are prerequisites. At least EUR 10,000 must be applied for per project. Excluded are investments solely serving teaching purposes and pure maintenance measures without securing places.
Applications must be submitted by May 31, 2027, through the independent cities or districts as primary recipients, who in turn submit the overall application to the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (LAGuS). Full approval is planned by June 30, 2027, project completion by December 31, 2027, and final accounting by March 31, 2028. Required documents include the written funding application on official forms, a description of the measure with proof of integration of school and after-school care, investment planning according to DIN 276, as well as declarations on the additionality and economic efficiency of the funds. By expanding modern after-school and school facilities, families are relieved, and equal opportunities in education are strengthened.
