Description

Within the framework of the state funding program "Parental Counseling – Early Support," non-profit organizations in Salzburg are supported in implementing needs-oriented services for (expectant) parents and children aged 0–6 years. These grants aim to ensure comprehensive coverage in the fields of children and youth as well as in the areas of social affairs, health, education & training, and work & social services. Funded activities include, among others, courses on childbirth and parenting preparation, information services in maternity wards, individual and group consultations (such as breastfeeding, care, and nutrition counseling), psychosocial and social work counseling, as well as outreach early support. The target group consists of families with children up to six years of age, who are cared for by qualified staff. Through the state subsidy, independent providers can secure their personnel and material resources, thereby strengthening the regionally valuable prevention network.

Recognition as a youth welfare provider is a prerequisite for application. Furthermore, suitable infrastructure, financial planning capability throughout the entire funding period, and consent to audits by the state government or the Salzburg State Audit Office are required. A funding application includes the funding request, the most recent annual financial statement, a budget for the funding year, and, for first-time applicants, statutes/bylaws as well as a detailed project description with cost estimates and a planned cost calculation. Applications are possible at any time – this open-ended funding line has been in place since 2014. Non-profit institutions can thus flexibly and continuously apply for grants to ensure early support services locally and provide security and guidance to both parents and children.
