Description
The promotion of nature-oriented structural elements in arable farming in Brandenburg is aimed at agricultural enterprises that wish to expand their arable land with perennial flowering strips and field margin strips. The goal is to take areas out of intensive production and integrate near-natural structures into the farmland in harmony with environmental protection and habitat conservation. Grants of €700 per hectare per year for perennial flowering strips and €390 per hectare per year for field margin strips are provided as funding. The project duration is 60 months, with the application deadline on December 31, 2024. The funding improves both biodiversity and water protection and contributes to the long-term stabilization of ecological cycles.
Farm owners within the meaning of EU Regulation No. 1307/2013 may submit applications if they cultivate agricultural land themselves and plan at least 0.3 hectares per commitment area. The strip width must be between 10 and 50 meters, and only certain seed mixtures may be used. Ecologically farmed priority areas are excluded. Both the establishment and maintenance of the strips are funded. Applications are to be submitted to the competent agricultural offices of the districts or to the responsible state authority in Berlin. By combining economic and ecological objectives, sustainable arable farming is supported, providing habitat for native species while simultaneously improving production conditions in the long term.
