Description

The promotion of nature-oriented structural elements in arable farming supports agricultural enterprises in Brandenburg in establishing perennial flowering strips and field margin strips to increase biodiversity and promote sustainable land management. The aim is to temporarily remove arable land from production and specifically create habitats for insects, birds, and other wildlife. Participating farm owners who cultivate their land themselves in accordance with Article 4(1)(a) of Regulation (EU) No 1307/2013 may submit applications until 31 December 2026. The five-year commitment period begins no earlier than 1 January 2023 and is intended to establish natural habitats in line with environmental and nature conservation objectives in the long term.

Supported are site-adapted flowering mixtures according to the specified guidelines on a minimum area of 0.3 hectares and a strip width between 10 and 50 meters. Areas that are organically farmed or already registered as priority areas are excluded. The grant is awarded as a subsidy amounting to €700 per hectare for perennial flowering strips and €390 per hectare for field margin strips per year. Application documents consist of Annex 1 (Application for nature-oriented structural elements) and Annex 2 (Proof of use). Annual applications are to be submitted to the competent agricultural office. Enterprises in difficulty as well as areas with existing statutory compensation measures are excluded from funding. Through financial support, the program contributes to improving production conditions, conserving natural resources, and strengthening the rural ecosystem.
