Description
The promotion of nature-oriented structural elements in arable farming supports agricultural enterprises in Brandenburg in establishing sustainable cultivation methods and thereby strengthening flora and fauna in the field landscape. Under the 2023–2026 directive, perennial flowering strips and field margin strips can be established on at least 0.3 hectares of land. The goal is to remove arable land from conventional production and create flower-rich habitats that serve, among other things, as food and shelter for bees, beneficial insects, and other wildlife. The commitment period for management is five years, during which only seed mixtures listed in the official guidelines may be used.
Grant recipients are self-managing farm owners according to EU Regulation No. 1307/2013, whose land is predominantly used for agricultural purposes. Farms in difficulty as well as areas subject to statutory production-restricting conditions or organic farming are excluded. Funding is provided as a subsidy of €700 per hectare per year for perennial flowering strips and €390 per hectare per year for field margin strips. Applications can be submitted to the responsible agricultural offices until December 31, 2026. The funding start date was January 1, 2023; project periods may begin no earlier than this date.
