The Foundation for Self-Help Assistance for Addicts and Those at Risk of Addiction promotes the nationwide creation and further development of training and employment opportunities for formerly addicted individuals. The target group consists of persons who have successfully completed addiction rehabilitation and now wish to realize their professional prospects through training or employment. With an uncomplicated grant, the foundation supports project sponsors—whether a company, a start-up entrepreneur, a non-profit organization, or a private individual—when financial barriers hinder entry into the primary labor market. The funding includes not only financial resources but also professional advice to lay the foundation for sustainable integration into the workforce and to strengthen social participation.

Eligible expenses include operating equipment, tools and machinery, vehicles (trucks, cars, forklifts), agricultural machinery, and shop fittings. Prerequisites are proof of completed addiction rehabilitation as well as the applicants’ self-responsible commitment. Application documents include a project description, a detailed business plan, and proof of overcoming addiction. Evaluation focuses in particular on the economic viability of the business idea, the quality of the business plan, and the coherence of the business calculation. Funding applications can be submitted on an ongoing basis, allowing for timely and flexible responses to needs. Thanks to this support, formerly addicted individuals can be sustainably integrated into the labor market and take an important step toward a self-determined life.
