Description
The district of Kitzingen supports educational institutions with a flat-rate subsidy for bus trips by school classes and daycare centers to recognized environmental facilities throughout the district of Bavaria. Applications can be submitted online at any time, as long as budget funds are available. Approval is granted on a first-come, first-served basis; therefore, early applications have a higher chance of funding. Bus trips to facilities such as the Flatterhaus Hellmitzheim, the Deusterturm Kitzingen, the Open-Air Museum Kirchenburg Mönchsondheim, or other environmental stations serving natural science education are eligible for funding. A prerequisite is the consent of the lower nature conservation authority to ensure that the destination effectively complements environmental education on site. The school class and daycare center must be located in the district of Kitzingen, the destination must be within the district, and the measure must be implemented in the year of the funding approval.
The funding is calculated as a flat rate of €50 for one-way distances up to 15 km, €40 for distances beyond that, plus an additional €5 per one-way kilometer. After confirmed funding approval, the institution pays the bus company’s invoice independently and submits it via the online form for reimbursement. Direct billing with the bus company is not possible. Payment is made by December 31 of the respective year to the specified account. With the entry into force of the guideline from January 1, 2026, the district of Kitzingen thus offers schools and daycare centers in the district a straightforward way to promote environmental education locally and bring children and young people closer to nature.
