Description
The Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV) supports investments in transshipment facilities for combined transport throughout Germany with a non-repayable grant. The purpose of this measure is the construction and modernization of transshipment facilities to shift freight traffic more strongly from road to rail. Both construction and engineering services as well as technical equipment and machinery are eligible for funding. Applicants – including operators and investors of transshipment facilities, railway undertakings, as well as municipal authorities and public institutions – must demonstrate their operational role and implementation competence and prove the location of the planned facility in Germany. Evaluation is based on the economic viability of the project, the environmental and climate relief effect, and the professional implementation competence of the applicants.
Project applications can be submitted continuously until the budget funds are exhausted. For the application, a completed application form, a detailed project description, and a financing and investment plan including a cost and financing overview are required. Operating and maintenance costs as well as financing and interest costs are not eligible for funding. The aim of the funding is a noticeable relief of road traffic and a strengthening of environmentally friendly modes of transport. Interested organizations benefit from a transparent application process and a clearly structured funding procedure, which significantly contributes to accelerating implementation and increasing efficiency in rail freight transport.
