Support for War Victims and Their Families

The support for war victims and their relatives in Vorarlberg is aimed at private individuals entitled to federal war victims' benefits who are considered needy based on their net income and can prove their residence in Vorarlberg. The objective of this indefinite grant initiative is the noticeable improvement of the living situation through three key components: a standardized support contribution, a funded recuperation holiday, and the acquisition of essential aids. Eligible special expenses particularly include hearing aids, visual aids, walking aids, and dental prostheses to ensure individually tailored support. Informal applications can be submitted at any time, with proof of income and invoices required.

The administration is carried out by the Office of the Vorarlberg State Government, Department of Financial Affairs (IIIa), which subsidizes an annual lump-sum payment as well as recuperation holidays lasting between four days and two weeks full-time. The amount of the funding contributions is based on defined net income levels and is regularly adjusted to price developments. Submissions for the standardized contribution, special acquisitions, and holiday costs must be presented in writing; deadlines between invoice receipt and application vary depending on the type of funding.
