Funding of rural access roads (goods roads)

The funding of rural access roads (farm roads) in Upper Austria is aimed at public institutions, businesses, and private individuals, offering an attractive grant for the construction, maintenance, and renovation of farm roads. The goal is year-round and safe connectivity of agricultural and forestry areas as well as adjacent residential zones. Starting from 01.01.2025 and valid until the allocated budget is exhausted, the measure specifically supports projects that comply with the technical, legal, and economic requirements of the State of Upper Austria. This initiative strengthens mobility in rural regions and sustainably promotes regional value creation.

Only measures where the farm road primarily serves agricultural or forestry access are eligible for funding. Eligible works include construction for new establishment, maintenance, and renovation of existing access roads. Municipalities as well as agricultural and forestry enterprises can thus reduce costs for construction, upkeep, and modernization of their infrastructure. Financial support is provided as a direct grant, increasing planning security and enabling swift implementation of investment decisions. This funding significantly contributes to ensuring reliable infrastructure in rural areas and improves long-term access to important production sites.
