Funding of Measures and Facilities for Firefighting and Fire Prevention

In Tyrol, the State Fire Brigade Fund supports measures and facilities for firefighting and fire prevention in municipalities, volunteer fire brigades, district fire brigade associations, as well as the State Fire Brigade School. Funding is provided as a grant and is available to public institutions, interest groups, other associations, and educational institutions. Applications can be submitted continuously, ensuring ongoing improvement of equipment standards and operational readiness. The aim is, in addition to the acquisition and modernization of devices and vehicles, to also strengthen preventive work. Ongoing costs that municipalities are required to bear in accordance with § 26 of the State Fire Brigade Act 2001, as well as the unmet needs of the State Fire Brigade Association and the district fire brigade associations not covered by other revenues, are also funded.

For a successful application, compliance with legal provisions and the guidelines of the State Fire Brigade Association is essential. The requirements must be coordinated at the local level, taking into account the size of the municipality and fire brigade tasks, and discussed in advance in a financing meeting with the responsible political advisor. The funding request is processed both by the district fire brigade association and the finance committee of the State Fire Brigade Association Tyrol. The final allocation takes place after positive review by district and state fire brigade inspectors, who confirm compliance with procurement guidelines and document the flawless acceptance of vehicles and equipment at the State Fire Brigade School. This structured approach ensures targeted and transparent use of funds in the areas of disaster protection and social services.
