Description

The promotion of nature conservation-compliant measures in the urban area of Villach is supported by funds from the nature conservation levy and is based on the provisions of the Carinthian Nature Conservation Act as well as relevant regulations at the state, federal, and EU/international levels. Funding is provided, among other things, for application-oriented basic investigations such as mapping, monitoring, and management plans, interdisciplinary goal-setting processes, action planning, and evaluations. Furthermore, nature conservation-related consulting, education, and public awareness activities are financially supported. Also in focus are the maintenance, restoration, or creation of valuable habitats, the private-law securing of ecologically significant properties, as well as investments in information infrastructure such as educational and thematic trails or viewing platforms. Experts from science and practice can be involved here, as well as dedicated volunteers who wish to contribute to increasing local biodiversity.

Eligible for funding are individuals and non-profit organizations residing or operating in the urban area of Villach. Applications for direct grants can be submitted continuously without a deadline. A prerequisite for approval is a detailed project documentation including a cost estimate and subsequent invoicing, as well as the actual implementation of all measures in the funded area. The Department of Plant Law and Environmental Protection of the City of Villach reviews applications for completeness, assesses professional suitability, and supports applicants throughout the entire funding process. This continuous funding offer creates incentives for sustainable nature conservation initiatives and strengthens ecological commitment locally.
