Description
The funding initiative supports newly installed photovoltaic rooftop gardens on publicly accessible and communally used roof areas in Vienna with a minimum size of 20 m² and a minimum output of 1 kWp. The goal is to combine shading for recreational areas with the generation of solar power in grid-parallel operation. Funding is provided to natural and legal persons as well as companies, non-profit organizations, and public institutions with systems achieving at least 800 full-load hours per year. The funding is granted as a one-time investment cost subsidy according to the Vienna Funding Guideline 2025 and contributes to increasing energy efficiency and climate protection.
Financed are module components, necessary substructures, installation, piping and fittings, metering equipment, as well as planning and consulting services and expert reports. The funding rate is either 30% of the eligible costs (after deducting revenues from the first five years of operation) or a flat rate of €600 per kWp, up to a maximum of €50,000. The implementation period is 24 months from the grant approval. Applications must be submitted online to Kommunalkredit Public Consulting GmbH throughout the year before the start of the work. Required documents include, in addition to a specialist company’s offer, proof of area usage, calculation of full-load hours, projected annual yield, a photo ID or ID Austria proof, as well as the metering point number. Combination with other state subsidies or EAG programs is excluded. Processing is free of charge, subject to available funds.
