Funding of Projects for Inclusion, Participation, and Awareness Raising

Funding area and objective: The state of Lower Saxony grants subsidies for municipal and non-profit projects aimed at bringing the concerns of people with disabilities into the public focus. Projects promoting the removal of structural and communicative barriers, protection against violence, and the empowerment of women and children with disabilities are funded. Also eligible for funding is the expansion of barrier-free cultural, educational, recreational, and sports offerings, as well as the development of action plans in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The funding rate is up to 50 percent of eligible expenses, up to 80 percent for municipalities. The maximum grant amount is 50,000 euros; non-profit legal entities under private law may apply for a minimum amount of 2,500 euros, while municipalities have a minimum amount of 5,000 euros.

Funding requirements and application procedure: Eligible to apply are municipalities as well as non-profit organizations and public institutions in Lower Saxony. A prerequisite for approval is the implementation of the project within the funding area and submission of the application before the project begins. The application must include a detailed project description, a binding schedule, a financing plan, and information on the relevant funding criteria. Since there are no fixed deadlines, applications can be submitted at any time before the start of the project. The aim of this ongoing funding opportunity is to sustainably improve the equal participation of people with disabilities, anchor violence prevention, and establish inclusive structures at the municipal level.
