Description
The funding for thermal solar systems for the generation of process heat is aimed at companies, municipalities, districts, public and educational institutions as well as associations and clubs in North Rhine-Westphalia. The objective is to support the installation and expansion of Solar Keymark-certified thermal solar collector systems (20–1,000 m² gross collector area) for the supply of industrial and commercial process heat, thereby contributing to the state's climate protection goals. Eligible applicants include, in addition to manufacturing SMEs, larger companies, schools, continuing education institutions, and municipal bodies. By combining renewable heat supply with a minimum yield of 525 kWh/m²·a, emissions are reduced and energy efficiency is increased. The approved funds are granted within the framework of the “progres.nrw – Climate Protection Technology” program and support both the investment in brand-new collector systems and accompanying planning and monitoring services.
The funding is provided as a grant of up to €90 per square meter of gross collector area. Eligible expenses include acquisition, installation, specialist contractor and treasurer declarations, as well as inspection reports for the Solar Keymark certificate. Requirements include, among others, a location in NRW, the Solar Keymark certificate, listing in the federal program for efficient buildings, and the prohibition of premature commencement of measures. Private applicants are excluded; retroactive costs and real estate purchases are not eligible for funding. Criteria such as collector certification, energy yield, cost-benefit ratio, and technical completeness are considered in the evaluation. Currently, applications are suspended; a resumption will be announced on the website of the Arnsberg District Government as soon as new funds become available.
