Description
The program for the promotion of measures for the preservation, maintenance, and restoration of monuments as well as other facilities of heritage conservation interest in the state of Berlin supports owners, other real right holders, and entities responsible for maintenance or preservation of listed properties. Designed as a grant, the funding covers up to 50% of the additional costs arising from monument-related requirements. Applications can be submitted on an ongoing basis to the Berlin State Office for Monument Preservation. Public institutions, private individuals, and companies can apply for the grants to carry out substance-preserving work on historic buildings, cultural assets, and urban development-relevant facilities. In exceptional cases, exceeding the funding rate is conceivable if the measure particularly serves the interests of monument protection and heritage conservation.
A prerequisite for successful funding is the coordination of the planned work with the Berlin State Office for Monument Preservation during both planning and execution. Furthermore, the financing of the overall measure must be secured, and the project start must be scheduled after the receipt of the funding approval. Contract awards may only be made in partial lots and according to specialist lots, not through general contractors. The federal government, states, and their subordinate institutions are not eligible to apply. The funding aims to secure the heritage conservation quality and authenticity of Berlin’s architectural monuments in the long term. Interested owners and entitled parties may submit an application to the Berlin State Office for Monument Preservation at any time and thus make a valuable contribution to the heritage-appropriate preservation of the capital’s cultural heritage.
