Description
Within the framework of Agenda 21 in Upper Austria, the state promotes innovative, cross-municipal projects that network local future processes and strengthen the exchange of experience. The goal is the development and testing of replicable models in the areas of environmental and nature conservation, climate protection, as well as energy efficiency and renewable energies. Public institutions, private individuals, companies, interest groups, and associations whose tasks align with the principles of the Local Agenda 21 can apply for a grant. Through this initiative, the funding measure supports the establishment of thematic networks that contribute to sustainable development and the strengthening of climate-friendly measures in the region in the long term.
The selection of projects is carried out through a nationwide uniform procedure, in which the basic qualities for implementing the Local Agenda 21 serve as evaluation criteria. Applications from municipalities, municipal associations, cooperations, and other eligible actors must be submitted in full by the respective announced deadlines. Funding is granted upon application, provided the projects correspond to the defined environmental and climate protection goals and offer an innovative, transferable added value. The decision on funding is made by the responsible state department based on the submitted documents and the achieved evaluation score. Periodically published submission deadlines enable transparent and plannable application processes.
