Description

In the federal state of Styria, grants are continuously available that preserve the rich heritage of general folk culture while simultaneously promoting forward-looking initiatives. Non-profit organizations, associations, interest groups, companies, public institutions, as well as private individuals with a clear project connection to Styria may submit applications, provided these are made prior to project implementation. The goal is to preserve traditional customs, music and dance forms, craftsmanship, and orally transmitted knowledge, and to create synergies with other cultural and educational sectors through innovative concepts. Particular emphasis is placed on strengthening regional identity as well as fostering intercultural cooperation that enriches cultural coexistence. The measures range from workshops and festivals to documentation projects and cross-border initiatives that help make folk culture a living part of modern community life.

For an application, the official online form in the folk culture section, the information sheet, and a detailed income/expenditure statement including a list of receipts are required. Applicants should observe the respective funding guidelines and submit the complete dossier three to six months before the project start to ensure sufficient processing time. After successful approval, a final report must be submitted within three months after the completion of the funded project. This funding option provides actors with a reliable basis to keep historical traditions alive and create new access to cultural heritage—fully in the spirit of a diverse, vibrant cultural landscape in Styria.
