Description

A grant program of the Federal Ministry of the Interior supports significant initiatives in Vienna for self-protection, everyday hazard prevention, as well as protection against natural disasters and technical emergencies. The focus is on increasing national resilience, integrating innovative technological solutions in disaster management, and targeted training of emergency personnel. Explicitly supported are concepts for the population’s self-preparedness, measures for alpine safety, and the coordination of the nationwide fire service. Eligible recipients include interest groups, non-profit organizations, and public institutions possessing relevant expertise in disaster protection or fire services, as well as suitable infrastructure for national and international deployments.

From 01.01.2024, applications are possible indefinitely and on an ongoing basis. A written funding application according to the BMI template is required for submission, supplemented by a detailed performance, cost, schedule, and financing plan. Funding is provided in the form of a non-repayable grant, which particularly supports volunteer mountain rescuers, voluntary fire service structures, and other actors in civil and disaster protection. This practice-oriented funding contributes to the long-term enhancement of operational readiness and promotes the further development of security-relevant structures in Austria.
