Description
The nationwide funding in the field of civil and disaster protection supports public institutions, non-profit organizations, interest groups, as well as other associations throughout Austria in implementing measures to strengthen resilience and innovation in crisis management. Projects that improve self-protection, everyday hazard prevention, and protection against natural disasters and technical accidents are funded in the form of grants. Special emphasis is placed on the development of new technologies, targeted training of emergency personnel, and increasing individual preparedness among the population. The continuous submission option allows funding applications to be flexibly adapted to current needs and implemented promptly.
Primarily funded are municipalities, emergency organizations, as well as voluntary and honorary emergency personnel – including mountain and water rescue services as well as the fire service. Eligible activities include concepts for enhancing resilience, measures for alpine safety, coordination of the nationwide fire service, and training and exercise programs for disaster protection experts. For a complete application, documentation review, a factual report, an income and expenditure statement, and the annual financial statement must be submitted. The program is managed and coordinated by the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Division II/ORK/10 (Crisis Management, Situation Information, and Control Center Affairs), which represents national and international expert committees and ensures the infrastructure for situation centers. The goal is long-term protection of the population and sustainable strengthening of the Austrian disaster protection system.
