Description
Fund for the Promotion of Non-Commercial Broadcasting supports non-profit broadcasters in Vienna in realizing a diverse and sophisticated program offering. The goal is to strengthen the Austrian media landscape through contributions to cultural promotion, information, and education. Funding is available to non-commercial providers with a licensing period of at least one year, who operate year-round or meet the content requirements according to the NKRF guidelines. Expressions of interest can be submitted continuously, thereby providing an immediate incentive for project implementation. Applicant organizations must demonstrate financial own resources as well as additional subsidies and must not be undergoing insolvency or liquidation proceedings. Furthermore, completeness and timeliness of the application, as well as proof of ongoing tax and levy obligations and social security contributions, are required.
The funding measure is granted as a direct subsidy and is specifically aimed at programs with a cultural, educational, and information-enhancing focus. Particular evaluation criteria include the completeness of application supplements and the presence of an incentive effect – the project must commence only after the application submission. The sponsorship is held by the Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport in Vienna, which has been implementing the framework provisions of the KommAustria Act indefinitely since 2013. With an annual budgeted volume of approximately 6.25 million euros, the program makes a long-term contribution to the preservation and expansion of a vibrant, non-commercial radio landscape in Austria.
