Research Funding from the Angelika+Friedemann Spicker Foundation

The Angelika+Friedemann Spicker Foundation, based in Cologne, supports scientific research in literary studies, particularly on aphorisms and related short literary forms. Funding is provided for research grants, subsidies for printing costs, as well as projects related to archiving, including the establishment of a specialized library and an archive. Additionally, the foundation supports public events such as readings, workshops, and working meetings of aphorists. Funding applications can be submitted continuously, with a maximum funding amount of €500. As a legal entity, the foundation is a member of the support association of the German Aphorism Archive e. V. and contributes to the continuous development of this collection.

The funding initiative is aimed at enrolled students as well as young researchers at German universities with a focus on literary studies and an interest in aphorisms and related short forms. Eligible expenses include research grants, printing costs, material costs, and travel expenses. To submit an application, a completed application form, a project description (maximum two pages), a curriculum vitae, and a detailed budget plan are required. The continuous application deadline allows flexible planning of research projects. By awarding grants, the foundation contributes to the promotion of early-career researchers and the strengthening of interdisciplinary dialogue within the humanities.
