Description

The Hans Beger Foundation funds nationwide research projects on pancreatic carcinoma with the aim of significantly advancing diagnostics, therapy, and the understanding of molecular mechanisms. As a non-profit foundation, it supports educational institutions, scientific institutes, companies, public sponsors, as well as start-ups that promote innovative studies or experimental approaches in the field of pancreatic cancer. Funding is provided in the form of grants and specifically covers material and personnel costs. Since there are no fixed submission deadlines, funding requests can be submitted at any time. This offers interested research teams flexible planning security and the opportunity to investigate scientific questions in depth without time constraints.

The multi-stage application process begins with a written funding inquiry, which must include the project title, desired funding volume, anticipated funding duration, as well as the responsible project leaders and institutions. After a positive initial evaluation, a detailed application must be submitted within specified parameters according to the criteria of the German Research Foundation (maximum ten DIN A4 pages). This formally structured application includes the hypothesis, methodology, work packages, personnel planning, and cost calculation. Two independent experts – at least one of whom is international – review the documents before the advisory board decides on the funding approval. Through this transparent selection process, the Hans Beger Foundation ensures targeted support for scientific projects and contributes to achieving new insights in the fight against pancreatic cancer.
