Description

The research funding of the Head and Neck Tumor Research Foundation supports innovative projects nationwide by young scientists at public and non-profit research institutions that focus on the diagnosis, therapy, or prevention of tumors in the head and neck area, including the neurocranium. Funding is provided for personnel expenses, scientific equipment, consumables, as well as other costs within the framework of a one-year seed funding. Applications are submitted electronically from 01.04.2026 to 01.10.2026, with the project goal aimed at improving diagnostic procedures, therapeutic approaches, or preventive measures, as well as achieving follow-up funding through public sources. Through the combination of expert review and transparent evaluation criteria—innovation content and relevance to the quality of life of head and neck tumor patients—a proven funding instrument is created to strengthen early-career researchers.

Eligible to apply are public law entities and non-profit recognized institutions in Germany and the German-speaking European region. Requirements for consideration include a detailed project description, a popular science summary (max. 200 words), a detailed budget plan, curriculum vitae with photo, list of publications, and reference letters. The 12-month project duration allows for focused implementation of research-relevant questions, while the prospect of national and international follow-up funding ensures sustainable research development. The foundation thus specifically supports talented early-career scientists and contributes to the long-term optimization of care quality and quality of life for those affected.
