Description
The Pro Retina Foundation for the Prevention of Blindness supports temporally and thematically defined projects in Germany or abroad through research fellowships. Scientists receive financial assistance to conduct independent studies or projects under the guidance of qualified experts and to familiarize themselves with specialized research areas or learn new methods. The funding contributes to the advancement of innovative approaches in retinal research and strengthens the international networking of research groups.
Eligible for funding are individuals with a proven research project and appropriate scientific qualifications or in close cooperation with a recognized research institution. Applications can be submitted at any time, requiring a project description, a curriculum vitae, and proof of professional expertise. Ongoing support is provided by the foundation, which has awarded over €6 million to researchers in Germany and Switzerland since 2007. The aim of the funding is to accompany promising research approaches from basic research to clinical application, thereby enabling new therapies and rehabilitation methods for retinal degenerations in the long term.
