Description
The community fund "Ukraine Aid Hamburg" supports non-profit associations, initiatives, and interest groups based in Hamburg that are committed to voluntary engagement for people seeking protection from Ukraine. The goal is to expand established services and develop tailored assistance ranging from practical support and psychosocial care to medium-term life planning. Funding is provided for exchange formats, legal advice and initial orientation, training measures for volunteers, as well as the provision of projects with hygiene articles and catering. Through this broad-based support, the fund contributes to strengthening social cohesion and facilitating the integration of refugee families, children, and youth, while simultaneously relieving parents.
Eligible for funding are non-profit organizations, interest groups, and associations based in Hamburg that directly target their services at Ukrainian protection seekers or integrate them into existing structures. Applications can be submitted on an ongoing basis, with follow-up applications for 2026 only possible upon explicit invitation by the project coordination. The application process is low-threshold, using a project report and the funding criteria (PDF). Within four to six weeks after submission, the BürgerStiftung Hamburg, as the coordinating funding body, decides on the grant awards. This community fund makes a valuable contribution to strengthening volunteer structures and providing sustainable support to refugees in the Hanseatic city.
