Description
The community fund “Ukraine Aid Hamburg” of the BürgerStiftung Hamburg is aimed at non-profit recognized associations and organizations in the Hanseatic city that wish to further expand their existing services for people seeking protection from Ukraine. Projects involving voluntary engagement in areas such as mentoring and housing sponsorship, child and youth care, as well as psychosocial and emotional support are funded. Additionally, qualification measures for volunteers, networking formats, and equipment costs—including project-related fees, travel and material expenses, rent, or catering—are subsidized. A stable organizational structure, relevant experience in Ukraine aid, and a willingness to cooperate are prerequisites for funding of up to €10,000 per project. Applications can be submitted continuously via a low-threshold online form; decisions on funding are made within four to six weeks.
The fund particularly supports initiatives that strengthen social cohesion and promote harmonious coexistence. Offers for legal advice, initial orientation, exchange among those seeking protection, or measures to protect minorities are also possible. Emergency aid on site, new foundations duplicating existing structures, or services with legal entitlement are not funded. Through the funding, a resilient Hamburg network is created that accompanies refugees from their initial arrival through to medium-term life planning. Non-profit organizations benefit from flexible funding conditions and uncomplicated application procedures to provide needs-based support for people from Ukraine and to sustainably strengthen the democratic community.
