Description
The Raiffeisen Foundation supports universities of applied sciences and universities throughout Germany in integrating cooperative expertise into master's degree programs. The goal is to sustainably incorporate modules or module groups with a cooperative focus into existing curricula, thereby strengthening practice-oriented education in cooperative studies. Funding is provided for all degree programs seeking to supplement their curricula with cooperative teaching content, thus intensifying the transfer of knowledge between academia and cooperative practice. Applications can be submitted informally at any time in German, either in writing or electronically, with the application process conducted through the respective faculty or university administrations. The application must include, among other things, a project description demonstrating relevance to the Sustainable Development Goals, a comprehensive module plan, the study progression plan, and an accreditation concept. The application portfolio is complemented by a financial plan, a presentation of the added value for the cooperative sector, and the planned communication measures.
The decision on approval is based on formal completeness, relevance to the foundation’s purpose, and the expertise of external reviewers with cooperative-specific teaching experience. A recommendation from the board is finally confirmed by the advisory board. Through this structured evaluation, applicants are given the opportunity to make a substantial contribution to the further development of cooperative educational structures. Funding is provided as a grant and can be combined with partial funding from other sponsors. Universities thus gain not only financial support but also a platform for networking within the cooperative community and for strengthening rural areas as well as the entire cooperative sector.
