Description
The Relief Fund of the German Childhood Cancer Aftercare Foundation – Foundation for Chronically Ill Children is aimed at families with children suffering from cancer, heart diseases, or cystic fibrosis, as well as bereaved families who have fallen into hardship through no fault of their own due to the illness or death of a child. Nationwide, private individuals can submit grant applications at any time, provided that despite exhausting all financial options, no or no full cost coverage commitment from the cost bearer exists. In such cases, the foundation finances urgently needed rehabilitation measures as well as the short-term bridging of existential bottlenecks within the framework of family-oriented aftercare.
The program’s goal is to enable medical-therapeutic measures and to provide families in acute crisis situations with unbureaucratic relief. Funding is provided particularly for costs related to inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation measures as well as unavoidable emergencies that cannot be managed without external assistance. With over 2.6 million euros from the Relief Fund, more than 1,730 families have already been supported. Interested parties must provide proof of one of the aforementioned diagnoses or the status of bereaved relatives and demonstrate that no cost coverage commitment exists. Through the continuous funding opportunity, affected individuals receive timely assistance to sustainably stabilize the health of the children and to open up new perspectives for families.
