Description
The funding initiative “Investments to Improve Economic Infrastructure and Reduce CO2 and Pollutant Emissions in Ports” is aimed at public authorities in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Municipalities, independent cities, districts, and municipal associations can submit projects for the new construction, conversion, and expansion of quay facilities, berthing bridges, transshipment areas, and dolphins to enhance the economic utilization of ports and sustainably reduce emissions in maritime and shipping traffic. Additionally, port safety technology, lighting, wastewater and disposal facilities, supply lines (electricity, water), digital infrastructure (empty conduits), as well as dredging and port floor deepening are supported. The remediation of contaminated sites and project planning or consulting services are also within the scope of funding. Applications must be submitted electronically via the state’s eCohesion portal prior to the start of construction; there is no legal entitlement to funding.
The grant is provided as a non-repayable subsidy and generally covers 60% of eligible expenses, in justified exceptional cases up to 90%. The project duration is 36 months; a binding period of 15 years applies. The following documents are required for the application: detailed project description, cost breakdown according to DIN 276, financing plan, proof of ownership, water and port law permits, as well as an economic feasibility calculation. The granting authority also reviews compliance with state planning objectives and environmental requirements. The Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Development Bank advises on funding prerequisites, eligible expenses, and procedural steps and supports applicants throughout the electronic process.
