Description
Isotope Prize of the Dr. Karleugen Habfast Foundation is awarded every two years to young researchers in Germany who have distinguished themselves with outstanding achievements in the field of stable isotope applications. An independently appointed jury selects a laureate based on proposals from renowned colleagues, who is then awarded a certificate as well as a financial grant of at least approximately €2,000. The award ceremony takes place during the annual meeting of the Working Group on Stable Isotopes (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Stabile Isotope e. V.) and subsequently offers the awardees the opportunity to present their work to a knowledgeable audience.
Eligible to participate are individuals up to approximately 40 years of age, who are no more than three years post-PhD and preferably in the early postdoctoral phase or engaged in a final thesis or doctoral work. A prerequisite for nomination is an outstanding scientific or technical contribution in the specified field, evidenced by recognized publications or comparable achievements. Nominations can be submitted until April 15 of the award year. These must include a brief, well-founded justification as well as the candidate’s contact details. Objectivity, transparent procedures in the jury process, and an interdisciplinary selection committee composed of experts from disciplines such as medicine, geochemistry, environmental sciences, and biochemistry ensure the high quality of the award.
