Description
The biennial award presented by the Joachim Jungius Foundation of the Sciences in Hamburg honors outstanding scientific contributions on the topic of “Transfers.” With a prize money of €5,000, young researchers are recognized whose work offers a transdisciplinary perspective on transfer processes – whether in psychology, medicine, engineering, or linguistics. The selection is made by a joint commission of the Academy of Sciences in Hamburg and the Foundation, which evaluates scientific excellence as well as relevance to the announced topic. The formal award ceremony will take place in autumn 2026 during the public annual celebration of the Academy, where the awarded works will be presented to a specialist audience.
Eligible to participate are doctoral candidates or early-career researchers up to the age of 40 affiliated with a university or non-university research institution in Bremen, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, or Schleswig-Holstein. Only one individual work may be submitted per application; for co-authored manuscripts, a statement of individual contributions must be provided. A prerequisite is that the publication is not older than twelve months and is written in German or English. Application documents include a cover letter, a brief CV, a list of publications, the manuscript of the scientific work, the application form, and the signature sheet. The electronic submission deadline is June 30, 2026. With this initiative, the Foundation specifically promotes early-career researchers in Northern Germany and strengthens interdisciplinary dialogue.
