Description
Youth social work at schools in Bavaria supports socially disadvantaged and individually impaired young people through a close integration of youth welfare services and everyday school life. The Free State of Bavaria provides lump-sum grants to finance social pedagogical professionals at all types of schools – from primary schools to secondary modern schools and grammar schools, as well as vocational institutions and special education centers. The goal is the sustainable promotion of personality development, social integration, and equal opportunities for participation in educational processes. Through continuous social pedagogical support in small groups or individual settings, barriers are reduced and individual resources strengthened. The program runs continuously and adapts to local needs.
Eligible to apply are rural districts, independent cities, and recognized providers of independent youth welfare services who are not simultaneously school authorities. A prerequisite is a need identified within the framework of youth welfare planning and approved by the youth welfare committee. Only personnel costs of JaS professionals are funded with a lump-sum grant of €16,360 per full-time position. The application requires the resolution of the youth welfare committee and must be submitted continuously to the responsible district government or local youth welfare office. Through the close integration of school and youth welfare, this funding instrument makes an important contribution to equal opportunities and the strengthening of social cohesion in Bavarian schools.
