Feature Film – Production Preparation

Pre-production support for feature films in North Rhine-Westphalia assists companies based in Germany in planning and financing their projects. With a funding rate of up to 80% of the calculated project development costs and a maximum amount of €100,000, the Film and Media Foundation NRW GmbH significantly contributes to enabling producers to establish a solid foundation for the actual film production. The funding program covers all calculated expenses within the scope of pre-production and thus promotes creative and economically sustainable initiatives in the field of culture & media.

Eligible to participate are producers with a company headquarters in Germany who submit a complete screenplay and a detailed budget. A mandatory consultation with the responsible advisor must take place at least one week before the submission deadline to coordinate all necessary information and documents. Access to the online portal will only be granted after successful consultation. Four submission deadlines are available per calendar year; the exact dates will be announced in the portal in due time. The final decision is made by the Foundation’s Film Funding Committee, ensuring a transparent and expert evaluation.
