Description

Klaus Dörner Prize of the Foundation for Social Psychiatry is a biennial award that honors projects and initiatives nationwide which promote the social integration of people with mental illnesses. The prize, endowed with €2,500, recognizes model projects, civic initiatives, research work, and educational offerings that pursue an innovative, participatory approach. With changing thematic focuses, the emphasis is always on strengthening self-determination and human dignity. Supported are initiatives in which people with mental illnesses collaborate on an equal footing, enable participation, and sustainably improve quality of life.

Eligible for funding are non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and others that develop concepts for inclusion, empowerment, and forward-looking social psychiatry. Selection is based on the criteria of innovation, degree of participation and inclusion, promotion of self-determination, and relevance for those affected. Selected projects benefit not only from financial support but also receive public recognition from the Foundation for Social Psychiatry. Interested project sponsors with visionary ideas to strengthen social participation are encouraged to apply for the next award cycle and contribute to an inclusive coexistence.
