Description

Municipal Building Culture in Carinthia promotes interdisciplinary activities and communication formats around the guiding theme “Carinthia makes good building culture popular”. The aim is to bring buildings and monuments, cultural-historical contexts, as well as contemporary urban and infrastructure solutions closer to a broad audience. Public institutions, non-profit organizations, municipal facilities, and cultural associations in Carinthia are invited to develop innovative project ideas and engage in dialogue with planners, experts, and citizens. The funding contributes to strengthening regional building culture competence and supports the exchange between architecture, urban planning, monument preservation, and cultural mediation formats.

During the application period from 01.01.2026 to 31.12.2028, direct grants will be awarded in accordance with approval by the Municipal Department within the framework of the work program. A prerequisite for application submission is a detailed project description, a transparent cost breakdown, and proof of existing third-party funding. The administration is carried out by Department 3 – Municipalities and Disaster Protection of the Office of the Carinthian State Government. Funding is provided for exhibitions, workshops, and courses as well as digital formats and expert discussions that raise public awareness of the importance of architectural design and cultural-historical mediation. This initiative aims to generate creative impulses that foster the interplay of building culture, urban development, and media, contributing sustainably to the long-term development of the region.
