Description

Through the municipal funding program of the city of Püttlingen in Saarland, measures for environmentally conscious stormwater management are supported. Funding is provided, among other things, for the removal of existing sealed surfaces, surface and swale infiltration, rainwater retention in cisterns, as well as separate discharge into surface waters. The focus is on the protection of water bodies, relief of the public combined sewer system, and the enhancement of groundwater recharge. For each decoupled area of at least 10 m², a grant of €20 per square meter is awarded, up to a maximum of €1,000. The funds come from the "Watermark Action" of the Ministry for Environment and Consumer Protection and are granted as a one-time subsidy. A prerequisite is that the funded measures are not started before approval and that the property is connected to a public combined sewer system.

Eligible to apply are private property owners, leaseholders, tenants or lessees in agreement with the owners, as well as housing companies or legal entities. The application process is ongoing; there is no deadline. Required documents include a fully completed application form, the funding guideline, an overview site plan (scale 1:500), a to-scale representation of the planned measure, a detailed cost breakdown, photos of the site condition before commencement, and necessary permits. After review and approval, the grant is paid out upon completion of the work and on-site inspection. Thus, the program contributes to climate protection, energy efficiency, and sustainable municipal infrastructure.
