State funding of municipalities for hospital discharge

The state program supports all 96 municipalities in Vorarlberg in financing their contributions for final hospital departures by granting a non-repayable subsidy amounting to 40% of the hospital contributions paid. The funding has been continuously available since January 1, 2023, and is granted indefinitely. Public institutions can apply for this subsidy within the thematic priorities of Health as well as Work & Social Affairs. With the directly granted subsidy, the State of Vorarlberg makes a significant contribution to relieving municipal budgets while simultaneously ensuring sustainable healthcare provision at the regional level.

A condition for receiving the funding is compliance with the provisions of the Hospital Contribution Act (SpBG, LGBl. No. 8/1987 as amended by LGBl. No. 52/2016) as well as the Contribution Subsidy Regulation (LGBl. No. 62/2016), which regulate the amount of the subsidy and its distribution among the individual municipalities. Applications can be submitted without limitation and without a deadline; processing is carried out by the Office of the Vorarlberg State Government. The funding rate of 40% applies exclusively to hospital contributions for final departures and enables municipalities to conduct budget management in a planned and transparent manner. This state funding strengthens the financial cooperation between the state and municipalities and contributes to social stability in Vorarlberg.
