Description
The state program Economy 2021–2027 for the promotion of energy-saving and energy efficiency technologies as well as energy innovations (E3) supports projects in Schleswig-Holstein that reduce energy consumption, increase energy efficiency, and lower CO₂ emissions. Led by the Ministry for Energy Transition, Climate Protection, Environment, and Nature, the program targets companies and educational institutions engaged in application-oriented research. Both investment measures for the transition to CO₂-neutral energy sources and the optimization of industrial processes, as well as research and development projects in the fields of energy efficiency & renewable energies, research & innovation, and climate protection, are funded.
The funding measure is granted as a non-repayable subsidy, with the funding rate ranging between 25% and 80% of eligible expenses, depending on the type of project and company size. The focus is particularly on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as institutions such as colleges, universities, and non-university research institutions that aim to implement innovative technology concepts. Supported are not only additional investment costs to improve energy efficiency but also personnel expenses, external services, material, and overhead costs. Projects must demonstrate technical and economic prospects of success and lead to a verifiable reduction of greenhouse gas emissions as well as fossil energy consumption.
A comprehensive application requires proof of savings potential through an energy-saving concept (current/target analysis) prepared by energy consultants, as well as detailed project proposals and calculation plans. Eligible measures require a minimum investment amount of €100,000, with an equity share of at least 10% of the total costs to be demonstrated. Additionally, the program also funds collaborative projects, for which effective cooperation must be evidenced by a cooperation agreement. Through this targeted support, the program contributes to strengthening technology transfer between industry and research and makes a decisive contribution to the decarbonization of the economy in Schleswig-Holstein.
