Description
The program offers financial support for living expenses to individuals seeking assistance in Burgenland in accordance with §§ 5 and 13 of the Burgenland Social Assistance Act (Bgld. SUG). From October 1, 2024, onwards and indefinitely, applications can be submitted for a one-time or ongoing grant to ensure a dignified life. The provider of the benefits is the State of Burgenland, which ensures a transparent and citizen-oriented procedure through its district administrative authorities and magistrates. In special cases, such as inpatient accommodation in so-called addiction or care facilities, an additional clothing allowance of up to 30% of the net compensation allowance standard rate may be granted.
Eligible for funding are Austrian citizens, persons entitled to asylum, as well as permanently settled foreigners with at least five years of lawful residence who can prove their main residence and actual stay in Burgenland. Homeless persons are equated with a confirmation pursuant to § 19a Registration Act. The documents listed in the application form are required for the application, including proof of income, bank statements from recent months, where applicable care allowance notices, medical certificates, death certificates, or powers of attorney. After submission, the competent authority promptly and unbureaucratically reviews the eligibility requirements. The aim is to make access to social benefits as barrier-free as possible and to provide relief in challenging life situations. Further information on the legal basis of the Burgenland Social Assistance Act and local contact points can be found in the information materials of the state administration.
